(posted: 21st November 2019)

In preparation for the S-Gear v2.9 release, we've created this FAQ section to answer upgrade related questions. If you have further questions, please contact us via support.

S-Gear v2.9 is currently in Beta and will be released once we are confident that we have identified and resolved any major problems.

S-Gear v2.9 will include:

  • Support for HiDPI Displays
  • Scalable GUI
  • Improved Preset management system
  • Redwirez ‘Remastered’ Cabinet options
  • New license system allowing up to 3 machine activations
  • Added VST3 plug-in format on Windows
  • A fully updated code base for future development

S-Gear v2.9 is comprehensive update of S-Gear code, built using the latest SDKs (Software Development Kits) for Operating Systems and Plug-in formats.  The update will allow us to provide support and compatibility for operating systems going forward. It is an important next step in the on-going development of the S-Gear software.

If you purchased S-Gear v2.7 prior to 1st January 2018 then there will be a USD $29 upgrade fee.

Customers who purchased S-Gear from 1st January 2018 will receive the upgrade free of charge.

Upgrade information will be sent via email prior to the release.

S-Gear v2.9 will use a new machine-locked license scheme. Once you have received your new license key, simply download, install and activate the new version.

S-Gear v2.9 will replace S-Gear v2.7 on your machine.

S-Gear v2.9 is 64bit only.  If you have 32bit project work in progress, then you should continue to use S-Gear v2.7.

Otherwise,

  • DAW sessions will be unaffected since v2.9 is a direct and fully compatible replacement for v2.7.
  • When you upgrade to v2.9, your old v2.7 presets will be migrated into the new version.

S-Gear v2.9 will require Windows 10 or Mac OS 10.9 or later.

  • S-Gear v2.9 allows 3 machine activations for use of the licensee.
  • The licensing is machine-locked only and does not use the iLOK system.

Upgrading to v2.9 will not prevent you from using the older version if you still have work in progress and you do not wish to upgrade a system. Your continued use of v2.7 will be governed by the new v2.9 EULA, that means that the maximum number of machines you can activate at any one time is 3 (three), and only you the license holder can use S-Gear.
