Thanks man, and yes, Eddie really was something. I played his original track in slow tempo just to check his swing, and it was incredibly accurate all throughout: not a single floppy note out of tempo or swing, and all in a single take... Totally mind blowing, and even more coming from a then 22 y/o kid.
Then I compared my recording against his in slow tempo, and it was actually embarrassing
