TOPIC: What would you like to see in S-gear 3.0

What would you like to see in S-gear 3.0 1 year 2 weeks ago #20381

When 3.0 comes out I'm hoping to be able to use it beyond the grave because that's where I'll probably be. This is actually a compliment as I can't bear to be without it. Like the Egyptians I've left instructions for it to be left in my coffin for the afterlife.

I’m certain that this has been mentioned elsewhere here, however it bears repeating...

I think that there are two items, not features but necessary inclusions for any update of an otherwise brilliant piece of software:
1. An interface that is easy to read - clearer and bigger. The current version is difficult to read and too small; and
2. A looper that can be midi controlled.

Cheers

I might say something that has already been said, if yes, sorry.
Here's what I'd love to have in the new version:

- A bigger interface with bigger and clear fonts, or to be able to chose different sizes for the interface.
- to be able to have the tuner visible without muting the amp
- a fuzz thing :)
- an octaver / harmonizer thing
- a rack thing that allows you to record quickly and easily some ideas, riffs, etc, even better if it can then playback them and make loops
- it would be great to have the new version that won't be that much heavier on the cpu than the current one

Sorry if this is redundant but I'd appreciate the following:
- a compressor with a dry/wet blend knob
- something like a polytone style amp, clean all the way
- a midi controllable looper/mp3-player thing
- a metronome

if still relevant, here's my 'would kill for' wishlist for 3.x:
- looper / jam track player (both MIDI-controllable)
- Compressor Thing

@Tone master
one work around for now for he dual amps would be to insert it on 2 different tracks of a daw and mix them there.
my wish list in order of priority.
•A Tremolo on the Mod thing! like the wayfarers, so I can use it on all amps.
•Delay thing to lock to the hosts tempo and have time divisions.
•being able to place the fx racks before the amp, so they act like a pedal, (and yes some of us like reverb and delay going into an amp)
•I'd like to see a Bass Amp with a few Cabs, even a simple one. (or does anyone have a good preset with current amps?)
I like the idea of having a pedal as you suggest, for a compressor + boost/overdrive and before the amp, but at least that can be done in a daw.
Im still new to it so only just scratched the surface and it sounds and looks great!

I was going write all these as well, for me missing a bass amp is a huge deal given how great the guitar amps are!

And I'd love to be able to place a harmonic tremolo before any amp, so I definitely second the first two requests

Been enjoying the new update. Playing in stand alone mode (rather than within Reaper). Nice to have that function.

Would be useful to be able to make a folder or some type of bank within the impulse section. Could section off impulses via amp type or tone etc..

Small item but would help me stay organized.

It would be great to have a Tubescreamer & a Compressor pedal.
A classic Metal amp in the style of a Peavey 5150 if possible.

1. Compressor
2. Midi control to select a preset number directly as opposed to stepping thru presets or banks.

1. Wah thing, midi controlable, of course. (and maybe a compressor too)
2. Access to ALL parameters via MIDI CC, (Wayfarer EQ, Room Thing Mode and other deep parameters, etc)
and remove the 50 CC parameter limit.

Everything else will be wellcome, but already is "Da Bomb"

I haven't contributed to this thread for a while, but here goes:

1. Drive Thing: with the ability to do tone voicing (base, treble, mid hump) before and after distortion, and the ability to control symmetric and asymmetric soft, hard and fuzz clipping

2. Mod Thing extensions: utilizing the same core capabilities already in Mod Thing to provide phasor, UniVibe, Mu-Tron and other phase and pitch modulation effects.

3. Ability to have more complex signal chains - including more "thing" instances and separate series and parallel paths.

4. Wayfarer EQ and Tremolo available to all amps - perhaps as separate Things, part of Mod Thing or in the S-Gear I/O section at the bottom.

5. VST/AU host - the ability to include other plugins in S-Gear, at least standalone, with unified MIDI control support. MainStage and equivalent are too complex and have more features than are generally needed for a usable guitar amp and pedal board setup.

6. Compressor integrated into the S-Gear I/O block, similar to the noise gate.

Why these specific features? Mostly its to build on what's already great in S-Gear - using the distortion and tone control capabilities, but adding flexibility needed for complex gain staging and tone shaping, extending Mod Thing to do more of what it already does really well. But also keeping the focus on where I think Mike can add value beyond what others are already doing.

We can use come VST/AU host like MainStage, Cantabile, Ableton Live, etc. to extend S-Gear into a full guitar rig. But I think there are some critical things that are used all the time, and are key building blocks to overall tone that I would like to see Mike produce. And I'd like to see S-Gear get to the point where it could be used in standalone mode for a pretty complete performance guitar rig without adding anything else.

I'm a Helix user, I actually use Helix floor and HX effects together as my gigging rig. But I'd consider using S-Gear instead if it was a bit more of a complete solution in the key areas noted above. I already have S-Gear setup in MainStage in our PA computer as a backup, but haven't needed to use it yet. Helix seems pretty reliable and provides a lot of buttons.

Such great suggestions. I like to use S-gear for acoustic guitar also, so...
1. A simple power amp instead of The Stealer, etc, so I can load an acoustic guitar IR in the Convolver that isn't too colored by the amp. The power amp might be switchable between class A, B, A/B, etc.
and/or
2. An acoustic guitar amp.
and/or
3. A way to bypass the amp like we already have to bypass the various Things.

You can do this now using the buttons in the I/O section at the bottom of S-Gear. You can bypass the Amp, Cab and Effects using these options.

S-Gear badly needs:
* Compressor-Thing
* OverDrive-Thing (Zendrive-like)

S-Gear needs:
* EQ-Thing (the one being used in the Wayfarer is excellent)
* Trem-Thing (the one being used in the Wayfarer is excellent)

I'd like to personally see in S-Gear:
* Octave-Thing (One above/One below)
* Synth-Thing (Pat Metheny-inspired Harmonica- and Trumpet-like monophonic presets)

One can dream, isn't it?

In addition to what Jamsden said, I hope that this new alliance with RME could bring together a hardware floor version using the stability of RME interfaces/drivers, and the tones of S-Gear.

That would be a really menacing new competition to the hardware units market (Fractal, Kemper, Line6, Neural, Atomic, Blug).
