this is very good news indeed, thank you, Mike !

Indeed !!! I'm looking forward to this moment.
Concerning the delays, the S-Gear delays are so good sounding ! And the modulation is awsome.
However, I noticed I had difficulties to get a proper EQing for the echoes. I try to use the Tone knob but I can't get a smooth echo, it's either boomy or too icy, metallic. As I use the HERDIM pick which makes scratchy sounds when the string is stroke, this percussive sound is repeated in the echo and it makes the tone a bit icy.
I tried to EQ the source signal (the one coming from my amp sim - The Duke in S-Gear or an the VOXA30 in JamVOX - which is just OK) to get rid of icy freq (4KHZ and more) but can't get a balance tone (it's stil too boomy or too icy).
I was wondering if doing what you were talking about the Edge trick (putting delays between the preamp and the amp) could help gettind a smotth and wel balanced echo. What do you think Mike ? Could you explain why oing this can smooth the tone ? Will the next versions of S-Gear allow us to do that kind of audio chain ?
Cheers

Hi Olivier,

Placing delays before the power amp gives you some additional compression and tonal shaping to the delays, it may even help to overdrive the power amp a little more. Whether this in itself will give you the sound you are looking for - I am not sure. You might want to experiment with isolating the delays via an aux bus and applying some EQ or compression. You could also implement your own delay feedback loop on the bus if you wanted to get creative!

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks a lot Mike for the tip :) Since your last reply, I was thinking about doing something like that to warm the echos in the delays. Again, thanks a lot ; it helps !

Hi Zolaive,

you can get pretty close emulating a "jangly" AC30 in S-Gear with the Stealer just using the tone controls, the Presence and the Bright Contour.

I've tried that in the studio on a Beatles-Jangly-sounding project and I think I got pretty close.

However, the project leader ended up renting a vintage Vox Beatles model for the project and I had to redo all the tracks with it and, even though *I* liked better the S-Gear-made tracks, he said it just didn't sound "authentic enough" for him.

It was his project and it was his money, so..."whatever you say, boss!" ;)

Hi all,

Just to give my support for the idea of a vox AC15/30 style amp in s-gear. With all the other brilliant amps available, that would cover all my needs.

Cheers

call me crazy.... but after read that maybe this year we can have some 'new stuff" arriving to sgear power... a couple of nights ago ive dreamed about the update...LOL...

i dreamed with an amp that could give the vox sound family type and plus a diezel... LOL

crazy dream but it was soo real.... man... ive saw the amp skin and evrything, and in my dream Mike was releasing a reverb system.... LOL.... we already have this but in my dream it was soo cool ...but the bad part of the dream was that i dont test the amps or the reverb... wake up without knowing how it would sounds.,... man soo sad...

maybe my dream come true one day..a vox would be nice..but the diezel? c'mom.... crazy dream...

Maybe, S-gear 2.5 will have an amp based on the VOX amps (the great AC30 VOX amp, with it's Top Boost channel, the AC 15 or the AC4 Blue). I love the delicious crunch.grit of those amps.
Cheers and Happy Christmas to all of you.

Sorry man, as the project didn't use the parts recorded with it, I didn't keep any notes of settings or even saved'em as a preset.. :frustrated:

the tuner is here! That's nice. Currently I run amplitube for some OD in front of S-gear. It works well. So I just use that tuner.

But I'll add my voice to this. Vox family would be the crowning glory. I'm constantly getting compliments on my tone... and I'm quick to praise S-gear.

A vox amp would be two fold, it would be the first vox emulation (aside from fractal IMHO) that is doing a good job. L6 and the others have not got it yet. The other thing it would do would tip my recommendation of s-gear from "the best emulation you can get for the money) to this is something you cannot live without, go and buy it immediately.

Thanks for all the work you do, it's an amazing product!

Hi, all, new Sgear family member here, love it. There's a top jimi kemper AC-30 top boost profile on you tube that is a beast of an amp. It gets my vote for Vox style SGear amp.

I wonder if Mike is getting the hint that an AC30 type of an amp would be a big hit! :cheer:

I think the Jackel ( clean with a little edge on it ) gets pretty close to a vox sound myself.

I just wanted to throw in my vote/desire for a Vox model!

I've had to go with AmpliTube for my Vox tones because they aren't offered in S-Gear. Even though I think S-Gear sounds better, I find myself being forced to use AmpliTube instead about 60% of the time because of the need I have for Vox tones.

It would be so nice to have that in S-Gear so I could just use it for all my amp needs!

Same here. Only using AmpliTube for pedals now. Would ditch it entirely if S-Gear had a Tubescreamer.

I'm sure Mike is coming out with some Vox-style amp at some point, but I also think he could ask for a fee. S-Gear is so good already, it would just be fair if substantial upgrades such as new amps would be paid updates in the future. Unpopular with users, but absolutely justified given the quality that's on offer here.

Yes, I think it's time for Mike to start charging for major updates!
