Which software compressor plugin do you use? 3 months 2 weeks ago #19598

I use a ton of compressors in different capacities.

For something staccato (like an old U2 song), I'll use Peavey's ReValver 4 with the "Pressor" pedal feeding a Vox AC30 type amp sim.

For a Boston sound, I use Bias FX or Amplitube for an MXR Dynacomp style compressor in front of a Marshall with a fairly dark chorus and some delay.

In terms of S-Gear, I'd be using compression almost exclusively after it, in the mixing and mastering stages. I use the Waves CLA compressors often--the 1176 on drums and bass, the LA-2A on rhythm guitars, and the LA-3A on lead solos.

Then at the mastering stage, I'll typically use a multiband compressor (either the standard one included with Reaper, or the Quad Comp in the T-Racks 5 suite) to keep the low end solid without squashing the mids.
