TOPIC: S-Gear v3.0 is now available

S-Gear v3.0 is now available 10 months 2 weeks ago #23818

Thanks for this amazing guitarsim Mike.. So great that there is a new version to explore.
I have a question regarding the VST2-plugin.
Ableton Live 11 gives an error
Any clue? rather use VST2 because of using presets with midicontroller

Problem solved: Just overlooked that the new VST2 is called S-Gear3_x64. I use a different VST location so the old one was still there. I am gonna fool around with this new version :rock out:

S-gear continues to be my favorite amp, period. Not software, hardware, tube, etc. Just my favorite way to get sounds out of my electric guitar. Drive in front of the Stealer is awesome. My idea is maybe for a Fortin Zuul style noise gate, which applies the gate between the pre and power amps (effects loop) but has a direct "key" input that only listens to your completely unaffected, clean guitar signal. The result is a natural gate that never seems to choke the signal but can be very tight.

Pedal board interface is nice and clean and the new pedal itself looks beautiful. I'm enjoying using it as a cleanish boost. First feature update since I purchased S-Gear and I had a childlike level of excitement downloading and trying it out, so thank you for that in particular :)

I was very happy to see the update available when I checked in. I just installed it.
I did uninstall 2.9 first and when I checked the new install all my presets were gone.
I was hoping that wouldn't happen but it is what it is.
I know there are the ones available on the website here so that will help.
Maybe I did something wrong not sure.

Very glad to see the new version and I am very surprised that there wasn't some update costs as it had to be a lot of work and time to develop this. Thanks Mike for that generosity :-)

Edit: I was able to recover all my presets from my drive back up so not a problem.

Info: On my computer, Windows 10, if I started the standalone S-Gear 3 by selecting Run as administrator it would not allow me to drag and drop the .sfx files. I had to just open S-Gear as Non-Administrator and then I could drag and drop the files.

Thanks, Mike!

I am still more than happy with S-Gear!

One question: Does v3.0 overwrite v2,9? Because I have created a lot of patches in Gig-Performer 3 - would I have to redo them all when upgrading S-Gear?

Best wishes from the world city of culture for 5 weeks (Bayreuth :) )

HANS

S-Gear v3.0 replaces v2.9 and your existing presets/sessions should load correctly in the new version.

The only reason I can think of for this, is that the user account was different, or the access permissions were different with your new installation. In any case, the S-Gear installer will never touch the preset folders when you uninstall, so there is always a possibility to recover presets or even copy them between user data folders. If you still need some assistance, please feel free to drop me a support email.

Hello Mike,
I use a piece of software called RevoUninstaller. When I install a new program it is by using Revo to track the install and when uninstalling the program it knows where every registry entry was added and it knows where every folder and file is that were created during said install. So I assume that when I uninstalled S-gear2.9 that it did what its intended purpose was and it removed every iota of data regarding S-gear.
So it did its job and I was aware that that may happen.
I always have partition backups so recovery of the original preset folder contents was simple and quick.

So I don't believe it was any fault of your software at all. It is amazing though what gets left behind when people uninstall software from Windows OS. RevoUninstaller shows a user all the left over registry entries and files and folders that get left behind and eventually clog up the registry and system in general.

I also must say that making version 3 free to version 2.9 customers was extremely generous and I would not mind anteing up some cash towards all your work. S-Gear is a outstanding product.
Cheers :-)

I love the new 3.0 plus the addition of the pedal. I swear it sounds and feels even more like a real amp!
Thank You Mike!!

PS- I have 2.9 and just selected 3.0 with out deleting the 2.9 and it seems fine.

Will be upgrading from version 2.7. Happy to pay the upgrade price (the price for my laziness not upgrading to 2.9 when it came out).

Regarding effects. Firstly I would like to say that I already love both the delay module and the chorus/flanger module from the rack (‘Delay Thing’ & ‘Mod Thing’). I know they are not part of the new pedal board, but they give me an indication of what you can produce, Mike, in the realm of effects.

My vote for the next addition to the pedal board would be a compressor. Yes, I already have more software compressors than I use, but a dedicated guitar compressor built with your expertise would surely be my go to.

Love the Drive! Simple and effective. And it doesn't muddy up the low mids!! With the guitar volume knob and the amp drive, its extremely tweakable! Would like to see a nice compressor ala Wampler Ego. And perhaps a vintage germanium fuzz box!

I agree with previous comment asking for a Fortin Zuul style noise gate. It might be the best gate I've heard on an amp sim.

Just a note to say a massive thank you for the Drive thru pedal sim. It really dials in my much loved TS9 albeit with a tad more smoothness (which is a good thing!)

Thanks again

Just posted this in the original thread for those of you using Ableton - a link to updated vstpreset files for the new drive presets (plus the original factory presets). Makes navigating in Ableton (and on push) much easier.

Just drop these into your Ableton User Library in an appropriate folder and you're good to go.

More pedals are planned in the near future. Tell us what you would like to see and why

Hi Mike !

It´s really nice to have the 3.0 version released !

I'd love to have a Compressor and a Phaser pedal, based on EVH Phase 90, in the S-Gear.

Regards !
