Crash with Ableton Live 8.3 1 year ago #1470

Ableton Live 8.3 Windows.

S-Gear V2. ''Not responding. A serious program error has occured.
Live will shut down after this message box is closed. Fatal error: the audio engine is not responding.'' Ableton Live 8.3. Windows 7.

Standalone seems to work. VST always crashes Live on loading.

Just tried V2.01. Same difference.

I only have V2.01 installed by the way.

Thanks for reporting.

I did my testing on 8.2.2 which was OK. I'm waiting to get upgraded to 8.3 and I will confirm my findings.

Cheers,
Mike.

Hi!
Just got my test machine updated with Live 8.3, and I am not able to recreate the problem. Can you send an ableton set file? or are there any steps to recreate? Otherwise, a crash report (from event viewer) might help.
Cheers,
Mike.

The VST is working perfectly on my system today. Here is what I believe actually happened the last day I posted:

Ableton had crashed (as it often does).
It messed up my Audio Engine.
I decided to run S-Gear 2 after one of these crashes. S-Gear could not load (see above for details). Why? I don't know.

Today I had a similar crash using Ableton. Too many MIDI notes played too fast and Ableton predictably had another seizure.

This time I restarted my Laptop before testing S-Gear 2. Everything worked perfectly. No crashes.

Thank you for testing. Maybe you have a better idea why the Audio Engine issues are so significant in the case of S-Gear. All of my other VSTs seem to operate normally after a crash and immediate restart of Live. S-Gear seems to require a full Laptop restart in order to work after a crash.

My only guess is that this might be because S-Gear is more CPU intensive than most. Once the system starts to struggle because of an error, then all the normal timings go out the window.

Thanks for the feedback.
Mike.
