TOPIC: DAW COMPATIBILITY

DAW COMPATIBILITY 1 year ago #1533

We currently test (in-house) with the following DAW software:

MAC (AudioUnit & VST3)
  • Logic Pro 9
  • Cubase 5, 6, 7
  • Nuendo 5
  • Digital Performer 7 and 8
  • Reaper (most recent builds)
  • Presonus Studio One
  • Ableton Live
  • Garage Band
  • RAX

WINDOWS (VST)
  • Sonar X1 & X2
  • Cubase 4, 5, 6, 7
  • Tracktion 3
  • Reaper (most recent builds)
  • Ableton Live 8.3, 9
  • Presonus Studio One

We review the above list on a regular basis. Please let us know what packages you are using, and we will do our best to investigate and resolve issues reported with other DAWs.

Known Problems:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MAC
Motu DP8 - S-Gear 2_1 AudioUnit causes a crash on closing the DAW.

WINDOWS
Fruity Loops 10.0.x - S-Gear v1_0_2 VST plug-in - crashes when loading.
Fruity Loops 10.0.x - S-Gear v1_0_3 VST plug-in - no audio.

The following workaround has been suggested for Fruity Loops:
First click on wrapper settings on upper left corner of plugin. Make sure these four options are highlighted.
#1, Allow threaded processing.
#2, Ensure processor state in plugin callback.
#3, Send loop position.
#4, Used fixed size buffers.

In our testing, the most important setting is the 'Use Fixed Size Buffers'.

Hello,

I use two apps from RML Studios (www.sawstudio.com and www.softwareaudioconsole.com):

1. SAWStudio - as the name suggests for use in the studio.
2. Software Audio Console (SAC) - for use in my live rig.

Note: Though the use of a feature called "SAC Link" I am able to connect these two apps together via LAN - for recording pruposes.

The support is wonderful from both the developer and the forum. Sorry, PC only.

My only concern is the CPU load - I am usually running around 20% to 30% when using S-Gear.

Since the thread itself requests input and since I happen to be passing by, I want to offer that I also use the DAW by Zynewave called Podium. Full multicore support and available in either 64 and 32-bit versions for Windows only (sorry, no MAC nor will there be), I have probably used S-Gear more with this DAW both recording and extensive playing, than my other main, REAPER.

So, I'm writing in today just to state for the record that S-Gear performs and records flawlessly on Podium, both 32 and 64. After I introduced S-Gear on the Zynewave Forums, at least two colleague friends have also snapped up a licensed version. It's working perfectly for them as well, since any issue would have been posted first on that forum immediately if not. Currently, Podium on a very very slow update cycle, since Frits (Zynewave) is extremely busy porting the DAW to a tablet version. It is safe to assume for now that no further updates will cause any unforeseen issues.

Therefore, I believe it is safe to include Podium as another DAW for Windows that works with S-Gear. Should this change, I will notify.

Windows (VST): Zynewave Podium all recent builds to current 3.2.1

Cheers!
