Our mission

At Scuffham Amps our commitment is to bring the "boutique built" ethic to the world of software amplifier design. Not to merely emulate familiar and traditional equipment, but to refine and improve upon what is currently available. Each individual component choice in the digital domain is given as much consideration as it would be in the highest quality hardware counterpart, to create a range of new amplifier designs that are uncompromisingly expressive and musical whatever the style.

The future will bring an expanding range of products that match the superb quality of both the S-Gear amps and the Pro Convolver, along with a constantly evolving feature set and multi-platform support. All this will be underpinned by the hands-on attitude, support and genuine interest in understanding the needs of the end user that only a small and devoted company can provide.

Background

Back in the '90s, a guitar obsessed graduate of the Music Technology and Acoustics course at the London College of Furniture, Mike Scuffham found himself in the enviable position of product designer at Marshall Amplification. With the support and confidence of the then Managing Directors, Mike established himself quickly and within a couple of years delivered the popular JMP-1 MIDI preamp (amongst other things). Mike's career took him on to Akai Professional, working on the groundbreaking DD1500, and then to a high-tech Finnish company developing cutting edge video processing equipment. By 2008 it was time to get back to the fundamentals, bringing Mike full circle and keener than ever to contribute something special to the world of guitars and amps.
